News Update

The region’s premier legal sector event BMW Asia ALB SE Asia Law Awards which was held in Singapore on 5 June, was honoured by the attendance of Deputy Solicitor General Jeffrey Chan Wah Teck, SC and attended by members of the legal profession. Singapore giant Allen & Gledhill returned to the top of the winner’s list after slipping to second place behind Drew & Napier at last year’s event. In reclaiming its crown as the Lion Nation’s pre-eminent corporate law firm Allen & Gledhill scooped five trophies including the prestigious Singapore Deal Firm of the Year. But they weren’t solo atop the leader board. They had to share first place with Allen & Overy whose work on some of 2008’s most high-profile deals ensured they took home their fair share of silverware. The rest of Singapore’s ‘big-four’ firms— Drew & Napier, Rajah & Tann and WongPartnership all performed strongly snaring four awards apiece while offshore law firm Cains was the surprise packet of the evening coming in equal second place with four awards of its own. Singapore firms in general excelled at the event, which is an annual celebration of excellence in the provision of legal services and dealmaking across Southeast Asia. Malaysia impressed with a number of high-value, high complexity deals while deal flow in India is at unprecedented levels and it was only fitting that a home-grown Indian deal—GMR’s simultaneous financing and acquisition of Intergen took home the SE Asia M&A Deal of the Year Award and the coveted Chivas 18 Award for SE Asia Deal of the Year. The full list of winners can also be found on the Awards website http://se.albawards.legalbusinessonline.com/ and the complete guide to the who's who of the SE Asian legal profession, complete with analysis of why the winners were chosen by the independent panel and researchers, will be published in the July 09 issue of ALB magazine.

Client Testimonial

One of the best China lawyers based in Shenzhen! I appreciated this Shenzhen lawyer's service because they helped me achieved my goals, though it was a tough mission. They are English speaking lawyers, so there are absolutely no communication barrier you likely encounter elsewhere. What impressed me is these Shenzhen lawyer's quick response and professional service, two characteristics which I treasure most. Although the Shenzhen lawyers are based in south China, they represent clients across the country, so you can also call them China lawyer! - Johnson
